Have government measures actually contributed to lowering the dollars valueInformation/Exclusive:
Political analyst Diaa Mohsen cast doubt on Thursday on the effectiveness of the government’s announced measures to reduce the dollar exchange rate, asserting that the recent decline is due to a change in speculators’ tactics rather than actual government measures.

Mohsen told Al-Maalouma, “The statements issued by some government agencies regarding their success in reducing the dollar exchange rate are inaccurate. What actually happened was a change in the approach of speculators, who began converting their money into gold and other means.”

He added, “Talk about a direct government role in the dollar’s decline is exaggerated, as speculators still control the market and influence exchange rates. The price decline is merely a temporary phase resulting from a shift in their strategies, not a result of fundamental economic reforms.”

He pointed out that “speculators are currently resorting to buying gold and transferring funds through other means, which means that the crisis has not been resolved, but rather its tools have changed.”

Observers believe that stability in the Iraqi exchange market cannot be achieved through statements alone, but rather requires a comprehensive economic plan that puts an end to the influence of speculators and limits the smuggling of funds through various means.
