Al-Sudani directs to simplify banking proceduresAmid the economic and environmental challenges facing the country, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani focused his attention on Monday on two key issues: banking sector reform and water resources management.

During an expanded meeting with the chairmen of the boards of directors of Iraqi banks, Al-Sudani emphasized that all government sectors are linked to the existence of an effective and flexible banking system that relies on modern technologies. He pointed out that the government has adopted comprehensive plans for banking reform and contracting with private financial auditing companies, covering all banks, and has made significant progress in implementation. He explained that the work of the first Rafidain Bank will be launched with a new look and vision, and in partnership with specialized and well-known banks.

He pointed to the formulation of a clear roadmap to address the situation of the private banking sector, as a partner in development.

In this regard, the Prime Minister directed banks to simplify procedures, participate extensively in the development process, and participate as investors in all available opportunities. They also sought to partner with foreign companies and work to build trust with citizens, which would help ensure they feel confident about depositing their money in banks.

The Prime Minister also chaired the regular meeting of the Supreme Water Committee yesterday, Monday.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, a number of decisions have been taken, including focusing on major strategic projects in terms of planning and financing, reclamation projects (irrigation of Amara and the middle of the Tigris), and obligating all parties to take pollution control measures to limit the effects of pollutants.
