State of Law Coalition member Imran Karkoush predicted that the budget schedules will be passed in the coming days before the end of the government’s term, noting the importance of reviewing the price of a barrel of oil as it currently differs from the price recorded in the budget.
Karkoush told Al-Maalouma, “The government may not risk leaving the issue of budget legislation or its schedules without a decision, especially with the approaching end of parliament’s term, as leaving the budget to the next government would be considered a breach of the duties of the current government.”
He added, “The government is responsible for preparing the budget and submitting it at the beginning of the fiscal year, and therefore it is expected that the coming days will witness the passing of the budget schedules as this is linked to the fate of public life, state projects, and economic facilities.”
He explained that “the price of a barrel of oil was calculated in the budget at $70 per barrel, while the current period is witnessing a decline in prices, which necessitates taking this into account in the budget before proceeding to pass it.”
