Parliamentary Security: The last US soldier must withdraw next year.

Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Mohammed al-Shammari, affirmed on Saturday that the last US soldier must withdraw from Iraq next year, in accordance with the agreement signed between Baghdad and Washington.
Al-Shammari said in a press interview that “an agreement was concluded between Iraq and the United States stipulating the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraqi territory according to a specific timetable.”
He added, “The Parliamentary Security Committee has no knowledge of the withdrawal of a new military convoy from the US-led international coalition forces from the Al-Omar and Konkyo bases east and north of Deir ez-Zor in Syria, towards Iraq,” stating, “We are now in the process of withdrawing US forces, not introducing new ones.”
He stressed the “necessity of adhering to the timetable for the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq, with the last American soldier withdrawing from the country in 2026.”
Reports have indicated that US forces are withdrawing from Syria to military bases in Iraq.
