The Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee revealed, on Thursday, the fate of the Oil and Gas Law, while suggesting that the law would likely be postponed to the next parliamentary session.
Committee member Sabah Sobhi told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The Oil and Gas Law has been in the drawers since 2005, as disagreements prevent its approval in its final form.”
He added, “The law has not seen the light of day despite the existence of two drafts for 2007 and 2011,” noting that “the new draft of the law has not yet been sent to the Council of Ministers for voting and sending it to the House of Representatives.”
He continued, “Failure to approve the law will lead to increased disagreements in the oil sector, especially in the oil-producing provinces.”
