More than 46 million people.. Date set for announcing the final results of the population census

Sunday, Minister of Planning Mohammed Tamim set the date for announcing the final results of the general population and housing census, indicating that the population of Iraq on 12/10/2024 reached 46 million and 122 thousand.
Tamim said in a speech during a dialogue seminar organized by the Naram Sen Foundation for Dialogue and Development, under the title (The Ministry of Planning’s methodology in building sustainable development for a capable Iraq), published by the official agency, that “the Ministry of Planning has reached everyone with the population census and we have coordinated with the United Nations and international experts.”
Tamim continued, “One of the most difficult programs implemented by governments is the population census, and the census encountered financial, political and social difficulties. We contracted with Nokia to establish a data center, which is one of the largest centers in the Middle East, and the Ministry of Communications approached us to expedite the Fadfon contract.”
He noted, “On February 24, we will announce the final results of the population census,” noting that “the growth rate in the population census is 2.53%, and the percentage of males is higher than the percentage of females according to the census, and the city population constitutes two-thirds of the population of Iraq, and the poverty rate of the governorates in 2024 was 17.5%, which is a good decline because the poverty rate was higher.”
Tamim explained that “Al-Muthanna Governorate still has the highest poverty rate of 40% among the governorates, with Babylon in second place, while Basra has a poverty rate of 27.5% and a half, while Anbar has 22% and Baghdad has 13%.”
Tamim stated that “the population of Iraq on 12/10/2024 reached 46 million and 122 thousand, and the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani fulfilled what it promised.”
