Diyala Council member Aws Ibrahim revealed on Wednesday the date of completion of the longest bridge project in the history of Iraq.
Ibrahim said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The strategic Hamrin Lake Bridge, which crosses the largest lake in eastern Iraq within the borders of Diyala, will have its final stages completed at the end of the first half of 2025, which means that the opening will be in July or a little before that if the pace of work continues at the current rates.”
He added, “The process of pouring the spaces is being carried out by specialized companies, stressing that the project is the longest bridge in the history of Iraq and is being funded directly by the Baghdad government through the Ministry of Housing.”
He pointed out that “the bridge will connect the areas of northeastern Diyala to Baqubah and from there to the rest of the governorates, and it will also form a vital part of the Hamrin Road that connects sprawling cities and villages.”
It is worth noting that the Hamrin Bridge is strategic, and more than 70 billion dinars have been allocated to finance its various stages.
