Setting a date for the completion of the five-berth project in Faw PortThe Faw Port Authority in the General Company for Iraqi Ports has set next October as the date for the delivery of the five berths project.

The project manager at Faw Port and Senior Chief Engineer, Raed Ali Al-Sharifi, said in a press statement, “The staff of the Grand Faw Port Authority is still continuing its high performance and intensifying efforts, despite the harsh weather and environmental conditions of the sea, in implementation of its commitments to continue establishing the strategic project “Grand Faw Port.”

He pointed out that the focus is currently on the work of Contract No. 6 for the construction of the five container berths, which is nearing completion of implementation and completion of work on the berths, noting that after the completion of the project, the procedures for handing over the five berths will begin next October, to be the first infrastructure projects for the port of Faw.

Al-Sharifi stressed that this project will be completed according to specifications that match existing ports in Arab and international countries.

The Grand Faw Port is expected to be the largest port in the Middle East, and includes two phases, the first of which includes refining operations, and the second of which includes the construction of a petrochemical complex with a capacity of 3 million tons annually, in addition to a station with a capacity of 2,000 megawatts.
