Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi explained the penalty for forgery committed by the dismissed Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and the party authorized to initiate the lawsuit.
Al-Tamimi told Al-Maalouma, “After the Federal Court decided to dismiss Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi due to forgery in the personal file, the remaining matter is in the custody of Parliament and exclusively the Presidency, which has delegated its duties to the First Deputy.”
He added, “The First Deputy can confirm the forgery by approaching the party that issued the document to ensure the authenticity of the issuance, and if the forgery is confirmed in the file, it will refer it to the Public Prosecution or to the Investigative Court, which in turn takes measures related to the forgery, especially since Al-Halbousi did not He is considered a deputy.”
He stated that “the penalty for forgery, according to Articles 289 and 298 of the Iraqi Penal Code, reaches 15 years in prison.”
