Member of the House of Representatives, Suhaila Al-Sultani, confirmed on Tuesday that it was too early to talk about the budget, while she stressed that the representatives would not allow it to be passed if it was unfair to the southern governorates.
Al-Sultani said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “The Finance Committee includes representatives from all governorates and they will not tolerate injustice towards their governorates,” noting that “members of the House of Representatives will not vote on it and it will not pass if it reduces the rights of governorates for the benefit of others.”
She continued, “The Finance Committee will discuss the budget in a focused manner and scrutinize its contents, and if they approve of it, it will be presented to the Council for a vote,” noting that “talking about the budget is still early.”
The Council of Ministers approved, in an extraordinary session last Sunday, the 2024 budget tables, while the House of Representatives secretariat announced on Tuesday the receipt of the tables, and according to leaks, the share of the southern governorates was less compared to the region.
