Today, Sunday, economic expert, Diaa Mohsen, compared the rise in gasoline prices, according to the recent Cabinet decision, with the reduction in the sale of oil to Jordan by $33 million per month.
Mohsen said in a statement to the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “Iraq exports 10,000 barrels of oil per day to Jordan at a discount of $10 per barrel,” noting that “such confused decisions make the government lose the popularity it gained through service projects.”
He continued, “The class discrimination practiced by the government will be an insult to the government because Iraq consists of two classes, poor and rich, and there are no middle classes.”
Mohsen concluded his speech by saying, “The government must restore the improved price of gasoline to what it was for private transport vehicles, taxis, and remain the same for private cars, at the very least.”
It is noteworthy that the repercussions of the rise in gasoline prices reached parliamentary demands to question the Prime Minister and the Minister of Oil, and members of the House of Representatives abstained from voting on the decision to raise gasoline prices.
