The leader of the Anbar coalition, Hamid al-Hayes, suggested, on Thursday, the dismissal of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi before the provincial elections due to the fragmentation of his party’s leaders and the unveiling of a new alliance that includes the Watan and Sovereignty coalition without the presence of al-Halbousi.
Al-Hayes said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The differences between the front of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi and his opponents, led by the head of the Iraqi Awakening, Sheikh Sattam Abu Risha, began to deepen,” pointing out that “Al-Halbousi’s differences with various personalities and clan heads widened so clearly that they extended to the leaders of his party.” Which led to the withdrawal of a number of them.
He added, “There is a political movement taking place at the level of the representatives of the Sunni component to prepare the collection of signatures to dismiss al-Halbousi from his post, which requires 50% plus one of the Sunni representatives.”
Al-Hayes suggested, “The dismissal of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi before the provincial elections due to the fragmentation of his party’s leaders and the unveiling of a new alliance that includes the Watan Alliance and the Sovereignty Alliance led by al-Khanjar without the presence of al-Halbousi.”
A member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Fadel Al-Fatlawi, had confirmed to Al-Maalouma that the demonstrations that took place in Anbar Governorate to reject corruption files and the interventions of the influential parties are the beginning of the “political battle” that precedes the upcoming provincial elections.
