The Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee pledged, on Monday, to overcome the differences between the federal government and the regional government by approving the oil and gas law, indicating that passing the law is sufficient to resolve the crises between the two parties.
Committee member Sabah Sobhi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The legislation of the oil and gas law would solve the outstanding problems between the two sides, foremost of which is the sharing of powers to manage the country’s oil wealth.”
Subhi added, “The legislation of the law guarantees the rights of the oil-producing provinces and is considered a mini-constitutional map,” pointing out that “there is an effort during the current parliamentary session to pass the oil and gas law to regulate the relationship between the center and the region.”
He pointed out, “The legislation of the oil and gas law is a major part of the political agreement concluded by the participating parties in the” State Management” coalition.
The Al-Fateh parliamentary bloc confirmed the existence of a comprehensive political consensus to pass the oil and gas law after approving the budget, indicating that Parliament is awaiting the government’s completion of the final draft of the law.
