The head of the Al-Rafd Center for Strategic Studies, Abbas Al-Jubouri, confirmed on Tuesday that there is no political will to open the files of former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and his transgressions and submit them to the Iraqi judiciary, while indicating that they are documented and ready.
Al-Jubouri told Al-Maalouma, that “there are very large thefts and abuses that occurred during the period of Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s rule and his assumption of the position of prime minister, and these abuses are documented and ready,” pointing out that “there is no one who has the political will to file cases against him.”
He added, “The referral of Al-Kazemi’s papers to the Public Prosecution may be just a matter of throwing dust in the eyes, because he was able, during his time in power, to control Iraqi money, in addition to many files related to officials.”
Al-Jubouri pointed out, “Many officials have large corruption files on them, and therefore it may be a means of pressure against those who are trying to bring him to court.”
And he stated, “Al-Kazemi enjoys American protection and support, as well as other regimes standing with him, in addition to the fact that a number of political blocs were standing by his survival and continuity in power despite what he did of crimes and misfortunes against Iraq and its people, as he was the worst prime minister to rule Iraq since the era of Nebuchadnezzar.”
