A member of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Mueen Al-Kazemi, estimated, on Sunday, the general budget for the year 2023 at 170 trillion dinars.
Al-Kadhimi said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma agency, that “the coming days will witness the arrival of the budget to the House of Representatives if it is approved by the Council of Ministers in Tuesday’s session,” adding that “the Parliamentary Finance Committee is studying the law, discussing it, making some amendments and approving it during the month of April, so that The Sudanese government can start implementing its government programme.
He pointed out that “the price of a barrel of oil was set at $65 per barrel, which is the upper limit of the oil price in the 2023 budget, and on the basis of which the export is calculated by three million and 500 thousand barrels of oil per day, and the revenues are approximately 135 trillion, in addition to collection, taxes, and the planned deficit that is covered by loans. That the 2023 budget reach 170 trillion.
He continued, “The Sudanese government aspires to pass the budget with 200 trillion, but the Finance Committee and the House of Representatives are awaiting the arrival of the budget to Parliament to discuss its doors in detail.”
A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Abdul Karim Abtan, expressed, in an interview earlier today, his deep dissatisfaction with the government’s delay in sending the federal budget law to the House of Representatives for approval, stressing that this obstruction had negative effects on the interests of citizens.
