Shafaq News / The Central Bank of Iraq announced today, Thursday, an increase in the weekly cash amount allocated to the “A” exchange companies to two million dollars, while it demanded that they adopt the electronic platform to obtain the dollar exclusively.
The Central Bank said, in a document received by Shafaq News agency, that “it was decided to increase the ceiling of the weekly cash amount from the dollar allocated to the (A) exchange companies to two million dollars,” calling on these companies to “submit their applications, starting next Sunday.”
In the document signed by the deputy governor, Ammar Hamad Khalaf, the bank stipulated the adoption of the “electronic platform for cash sales exclusively to record the data of the daily cash sales received through the window, while depriving companies that do not use the platform from obtaining their weekly share of cash (dollars).
Iraq adopts a joint electronic and automated platform with the US Federal Reserve to prevent the smuggling of foreign currency from the US dollar, while the Iraqi government is trying, through the measures it has followed, to mitigate the severity of the economic recession and the high prices of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar in the Iraqi parallel market.
