Shafaq News/ Today, Wednesday, an expanded technical meeting was held between the federal government and the delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, according to what was announced by the media office of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani.
The meeting included: the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, the Ministers of Finance, Construction, Housing and Municipalities, the Head of the Federal Office of Financial Supervision, the Border Crossings Officer, the Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister, the Head of the Legal Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Director General Company “Sumo”.
While the Kurdistan Region delegation included the Minister of Finance and Economy, the Minister of Electricity and Natural Resources, the Chief of the Cabinet Office in the Kurdistan Region, the Director of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, and the representative of the regional government in Baghdad.
Al-Sudani’s media office stated in a statement today that the meeting witnessed extensive discussions regarding the general federal budget law for the year 2023, and an emphasis on the speed of its resolution, in order to implement strategic plans, programs and projects in the field of services, economy, investment, and other files.
It also dealt with a number of contentious issues between Baghdad and Erbil, especially with regard to the oil and gas law, and an emphasis on resolving them in accordance with what was stated in the constitution, according to a statement issued by Al-Sudani’s office.
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, accompanied by a high-level delegation from his government, arrived earlier this morning in the capital, Baghdad, with the aim of resuming dialogues between the two sides to resolve the differences and outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
This is the first visit of the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government to Baghdad since the formation of the current Iraqi government and the assumption of its presidency by Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani.
“We have returned to Baghdad and are ready to work with the new government to build a better and more prosperous future for its people,” Masrour Barzani said in a tweet he posted on social networking sites “Twitter” upon his arrival in the Iraqi capital.
The media office of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, stated that the latter received, earlier today, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and his accompanying delegation.
Masrour Barzani commented on the meeting, saying that it was a fruitful meeting at the right time with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani on means of cooperation in energy, security and budget issues.
