The leader of the state of law, Abbas Al-Maliki, considered today, Sunday, that the search for corruption cases in the contract files concluded by the previous caretaker government will be the first tasks that the new government will tackle.
Al-Maliki said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The corruption files and the recent contracts concluded by the previous caretaker government are the first files that the government of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani will address,” stressing that “all contracts signed by Al-Kazemi’s government must be reviewed and what harms Iraq from them should be ended in the future”.
He added, “The files that Iraq did not benefit from are many, including the transfer of the state’s electrical stations to foreign investors, and this means the depletion and looting of Iraq’s bounties.”
He continued, “The violations of the previous government are very many, and the new Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, must form special committees to reveal the violations committed by the Al-Kazemi government.”
A well-informed source said in a statement to “Al-Maalouma”, that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani arrived this morning to the Integrity Commission in order to see the progress of the investigation into the file of theft of tax funds, amounting to 2.5 billion dollars, as well as suspicious files that took place during the era of the previous government.
