Shafaq News/ On Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani confirmed that there are no red lines to hold the corrupt accountable, regardless of their influence or the political party behind them, while he announced the government’s intention to form a supportive team for the Integrity Commission.
In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, the Prime Minister’s media office stated that Al-Sudani visited the headquarters of the Integrity Commission, and upon his arrival held a meeting with the head of the Commission, Judge Alaa Al-Saadi and the advanced staff in it, and listened to a briefing about the Commission’s work in combating corruption, and prosecuting the perpetrators and those involved in cases of financial corruption. and administrative.
Al-Sudani stressed that there are no red lines in front of any corruption file linked to a political party or any person whatsoever, stressing that the government will provide all support to the Integrity Commission, whether at the level of executive procedures or in the legislative aspect, by submitting draft laws that address corruption and contribute to closing its outlets.
He pointed to the government’s intention to form a supportive team for the Integrity Commission that takes the legal capacity, and does not conflict with the commission’s powers and tasks entrusted to it in accordance with its effective law No. 30 of 2011, as amended.
Al-Sudani indicated that “the goal is not limited to imprisoning the corrupt, but rather to provide preventive measures to reduce corruption, cultivate a culture of integrity and chastity of the hand, preserve public money, and prevent employees from being involved in violations or corruption crimes.”
He stressed that “the first criteria in dealing with state governments is the extent of cooperation they show with Iraq to extradite those convicted of corruption cases and recover embezzled and smuggled funds.”
