Al-Shammari said, in a statement, that “the coordinating framework, in its meeting yesterday and in the presence of all its leaders, decided not to go towards holding parliament sessions during these days and until the end of the fortieth visit of Imam Hussein,” noting that “the decision came because of religious rituals in the majority of deputies these days.” It is difficult to be in the capital, so it was decided to give a chance after the visit.”
The deputy confirmed that “the postponement also came due to the lack of strong understandings now with some political forces about the details of the session that Parliament intends to hold in light of the lack of agreement about the next stage,” noting that “after the end of the visit, there will be a period of intense dialogues to reach a conclusion about forming the government.” and the Presidency of the Republic.
And he indicated that “the coordination framework continues to engage in dialogue with the Kurdish and Sunni parties in order to agree on a road map that will move the country towards safety, with the participation of all political parties.”
As for the Sadrist movement and its leader’s decision to retire, Al-Shammari commented that “the coordination framework was and still calls for the need for the Sadrist movement to return to the political process and to rely on the dialogue table for the sake of the country’s supreme interest and to renounce all manifestations of violence and inflame the situation.”
Al-Shammari pointed out that “demonstrations and sit-ins are a constitutional right for all Iraqis, provided they do not infringe on state institutions, harm people’s interests, and threaten societal peace by cutting streets, burning and using weapons,” noting that “everyone must bear their responsibility and not allow the recurrence of recent events in the Green Zone.”
