Shafaq News/ The candidate for the coordination framework to head the next government, the Secretary-General of the Euphrates Movement, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, warned on Tuesday of a “political coup” and its consequences, condemning the siege of the Sadrist movement’s supporters to the Supreme Judicial Council.
The Euphrates Movement said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that it “condemns and denounces the siege and threat to judicial institutions, and warns against the consequences of these actions that are intended to drag the country into the unknown.”
He held the caretaker prime minister “responsible for transgressing the constitutional and legal institutions, as Iraq is close to chaos and its consequences and extensions, and this matter means compromising civil peace and the country’s national security and a coup against the political process,” calling on “all sane people to remedy the dangers and consequences of these acts.”
Dozens of Sadrists’ supporters went, earlier this morning, to the Supreme Judicial Council and began erecting the sit-in marquee in front of the council’s building in a new development of escalation that affected the judiciary after the legislative authority in light of a stifling political crisis the country is going through.
As a result, the judiciary in Iraq decided, earlier on Tuesday, to suspend its work in the country, following a sit-in by supporters of the Sadrist movement in front of the Supreme Judicial Council, demanding the dissolution of the Iraqi parliament.
