Shafaq News/ The Iraqi “Extension” movement revealed, on Tuesday, the fact that there are negotiations with the Triple Alliance and the coordination framework in order to form the new Iraqi government.
The movement’s spokesman, Manar Al-Obaidi, told Shafaq News Agency, “The news that talks about the existence of negotiations between us and the tripartite alliance or with the coordination framework regarding the formation of the new Iraqi government, is absolutely incorrect, and there are no such negotiations.”
And he indicated that “our position is consistent, which is to go to the opposition, and an official request was submitted to the Presidency of the House of Representatives in order for us to register an opposition bloc in Parliament, and for this there is no dialogue and negotiation to join any bloc or alliances in the coming days, and our choice is the opposition, and this is fixed and there is no change in it.”
Yesterday, Saturday, the “Extension” movement received a new blow, as a member of the Executive Office of the Extension Movement, responsible for the Student’s Office and a former candidate for the movement, Nour Nafeh Ali Al-Jalihawi, announced his resignation from the movement.
Al-Jalehawi stated, in her resignation statement, which was received by Shafaq News Agency, “After the explicit recognition by the Secretary-General of the movement, Alaa Al-Rikabi, regarding the participation of the movement’s deputies in voting in favor of the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, and what we believe that anyone who held a position during the October revolution did not stand He is genuinely with the sons of the revolution, as he is considered a partner to all those who participated in the suppression of the protesting youth, in addition to his role in the political process.
She added, “After this vote was proven to us, which we reject, we announce our resignation from the extension movement, and we are no longer part of it and its discourse does not represent us. We hope that you will correct the path and return to what the Iraqis sacrificed for.”
On (February 13, 2022), 17 members of the political extension movement, emanating from the Tishreen protest movement, announced their withdrawal from the movement, against the background of the “deviation” of most of the members representing the movement in the Iraqi parliament, from its internal system.
The “Extension” movement was also subjected to a violent shake in early February, when three members of the movement’s general secretariat resigned in protest against the vote of the movement’s leader, Alaa al-Rikabi, and six other deputies in favor of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, in the first session of Parliament held during the election of the Presidency of the Council, This is what they considered as a deviation from the basic goals upon which the movement was founded, which is not to allow the ruling political class to continue in their positions.
The extension movement won 9 seats in the Iraqi parliament, and most of its deputies are activists in the protest squares.
