A Former Deputy Warns Against Renewing Al-Halbousi: This Is What Will Happen

Former parliament member Yassin al-Obeidi confirmed, on Thursday, that if Muhammad al-Halbousi was renewed for a new term at the head of parliament, he would expand his influence and control the provinces.
Al-Obaidi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “Muhammad Al-Halbousi used money and influence to bring down opponents and imprisoned activists in order to extend his influence in those provinces.”
He added, “The Shiite forces must realize the danger of the renewal of Al-Halbousi and not go in this direction, no matter the size of the external pressure.”
Political and popular forces reject the renewal of the three presidencies of a new term, headed by former Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi.
