A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Sherwan Mirza, revealed on Monday the date of sending the draft law on the general federal budget for the country for the year 2022, by the government to the House of Representatives .
Mirza said, “The budget bill every year is prepared in the month of June, and then the Ministry of Finance and Planning decides to prepare the initial draft of the bill and submit it to the parliament in the month of October .”
He added that “presenting the draft law to Parliament next October is subject to holding early parliamentary elections in the same month, or not,” noting that “conducting elections will certainly delay the arrival and passage of the bill .”
And he indicated that “the country’s economic situation is still unstable as a result of the instability of international oil prices, as well as the development and diversification of the Iraqi economy,” explaining that “the dollar exchange rate will be subject to discussions, but who decides to stay or change it is the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.”
