He continued, “A statement has been issued regarding raising the prices of Internet cards, and that the Iraqi Ministry of Communications does not deal in the dollar, but rather in the local area, and any increase is against the law by the owners of the towers and companies that contract with the Ministry of Communications,” noting that “we have mentioned more than once any citizen in any region. Internet prices are rising. The Ministry of Communications is reporting when complaints are served to citizens at the Ministry of Communications.
The Ministry of Communications had denied earlier, the rise in Internet prices to what was previously relied upon after the rise of the dollar against the dinar.
Citizens said that they paid a subscription of 35 thousand dinars for the monthly package after it was 30 thousand dinars during 2020, and upon discussion of the owner of the tower, he claimed that there was an increase in the subscription of companies that supply him with Internet capacity due to the high value of the dollar against the dinar.
Others said that the monthly Internet subscription rate was raised by the owner of the tower for a package of 40 thousand dinars to 45 thousand dinars during January, most likely due to the increase in the value of the dollar against the dinar.
