The deputy of the Alliance of Sa’oon Amjad Al-Aqabi expected a parliament session to give confidence to the government next week.
Al-Aqabi said in a press statement that “meetings are still taking place between the heads of the blocs and the Prime Minister-designate,” noting that “according to the data, the session is likely to be held next week to vote on the ministerial cabinet.”
Al-Oqabi added that “in the event that the session does not take place, the President of the Republic will be assigned to assign another person,” adding that the cabinet will pass by a majority.
The State of Law coalition had confirmed earlier that it was not involved in any discussions on the formation of the cabinet.
A spokesperson for the State of Law Coalition, Bahaa al-Nuri, said, “The State of Law coalition previously announced its position of not rejecting Al-Zarfi personally, but rather the commissioning mechanism that is a violation of the right of the larger component to nominate whom it deems appropriate to head the government.”
He added that “the rule of law has no personal problem with Al-Zarfi, but rather objects to the commissioning process because of its transgression of the Shiite component, which is the largest component.”
