Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, called Sunday for the presidency of the parliament to hold a meeting tomorrow, to consider the request submitted to her regarding holding an extraordinary session to form the new government.
The media office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in a statement today, said, “Al-Halbousi called the Presidency of the House of Representatives to hold a meeting tomorrow, Monday at 11 am, based on Article 10 of the internal system of the House of Representatives, to consider the request submitted for an extraordinary session to form the new government. And fix the date of the session. ”

The first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Al-Kaabi, had confirmed the postponement of the special session of Parliament scheduled to vote on the government of Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, until next Wednesday, instead of tomorrow.

Al-Kaabi said, in a press statement, that “the parliament session to give confidence to the government of Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, will be held next Wednesday.”

Parliament Speaker Mohamed Al-Halbousi confirmed yesterday that “Parliament will not hold its session next Monday unless the Prime Minister-designate, Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi, sends his ministerial platform and ministerial cabinet.”

While his first deputy, Hassan Al-Kaabi, considered that “the House of Representatives is obligated to hold the special session next Monday to give confidence to the next government according to the call of the resigned Prime Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi,” calling for a parliament session in accordance with the law.

It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, had called last week, the House of Representatives to hold an extraordinary session tomorrow, Monday, in order to vote on giving confidence to his next transitional government.
