Al-Tamimi pointed out that “in the case of the President of the Republic failed for any reason whatsoever in the selection and passed the period of 30 days constitutionally mandated hereby terminate the government of Abdul-Mahdi to conduct business and turn the country management to the President of the Republic in accordance with Article 81 of the Constitution and for 30 days until the appointment of a new candidate and after This period is before the void in the constitutional provisions to not address. ”

An adviser to the President of the Republic, said today that President Barham Saleh can assign any figure to form a government after the resignation of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.
He pointed out that Article [76] of the Iraqi Constitution provides:
First: – The President of the Republic, the candidate of the parliamentary bloc, the largest number, to form a Council of Ministers, within fifteen days from the date of the election of the President of the Republic.
Second: The Prime Minister-designate shall nominate the members of his ministry within a maximum period of thirty days from the date of assignment.
Third: The President of the Republic shall appoint a new candidate for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers within fifteen days upon the failure of the Prime Minister-designate to form the Ministry within the period stipulated in clause “II” of this Article.
Fourth: The Prime Minister-designate shall present the names of the members of his Cabinet and the Ministerial Curriculum to the House of Representatives.
Fifth: The President of the Republic shall appoint another candidate to form the Ministry within fifteen days in case the Ministry does not gain confidence.
