Jamal Cougar, a member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi parliament in statements today, that Iraq’s budget for next year 2020 will see the allocation of $ 20 billion under the item of repayment of foreign debt and interest borrowed by the Iraqi state in the past, said earlier reports that it exceeds $ 100 billion since the war on ISIS to Year 2019.
He explained that the Finance Committee will put a budget item to prevent external borrowing, especially as Iraq is mired in debt and chasing its benefits for years, which he described as a burden on Iraq without solutions to the problem.
He pointed out that the size of the federal budget for 2020 is estimated at 139 trillion dinars if a barrel of oil is calculated at the price of $ 53, hinting at the same time that these figures are preliminary and will be subject to reduction or increase depending on the variables that will occur by October.
