Kurdish leader - We will not abide by the Iraqi constitutionA senior Kurdish leader said on Friday that the Iraqi government has not complied with its dealings with the Kurdistan region in accordance with the constitution written since 2005, stressing that the region will not abide by the Iraqi constitution and will be with the opinion of the Kurdish people to achieve independence.

A member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Samir Salim, “The Iraqi government has been selective with the region during the past years and did not abide by the Constitution, which was written in 2005,” noting that “the poor handling of Baghdad with the region leads us to non-commitment to it.”

He added that “the Kurdistan region will be with the opinion of the people, who expressed his conviction of the need for independence on 25 September last and move towards realizing the Kurdish dream of independence.”
