Kurdistan Region announces its refusal to hand over airports to BaghdadThe Minister of Transport in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Mawd Bawah Murad, on Wednesday, Erbil refused to hand over the airports of the region to the federal government, after it gave Baghdad Arbil 72 hours to hand over airports.

Murad said during a joint press conference held at Sulaymaniyah airport in the presence of directors of the airports of Sulaymaniyah and Arbil, that “the airports of the Kurdistan region of Iraq built from the budgets of the region and in accordance with its decisions,” calling on the central government to “take care in its actions.”

Murad added that “the language of threat and intimidation will not work,” and expressed his readiness to “conduct negotiations and dialogues with the Baghdad government.”
