said deputy UN representative in Iraq , Lise Grande, on Friday, said that there are estimates that there about 50 thousand people inside Fallujah, pointing out that there are many dangers that beset them.
According to Grande , “We estimate that there are about 50 thousand people who are still trapped inside Fallujah and what we understand is that the status Dramati, where we have reports from present on the ground are people who say that there are hundreds of people who are trying to get out of the city in the past three days and escape through lanes created by the Iraqi security forces, and we are very concerned about what could happen to them. ”
she added:” We are worried that they [fleeing] may be exposed to risks of artillery shells or air strikes , and even the exchange of fire, we heard in the few days leading up to the Iraqi military operations that Iraqi forces provided to the surrounding neighborhoods and talked with residents and told them that things have changed, come and join us and lift up white flags, and in retaliation the militants organize Daash detain civilians and took them to the city center and use them as human shields. ”
