The Washington Post: Restore Mosul need for ground troops trained for urban warfare

The Washington Post is close to the White House confirmed that the liberalization of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city from the control of the organization, “Daash” need trained ground forces on the streets of war, as quoted by US military commanders fear of failure of the Iraqi military’s ability to fight that battle.
The newspaper said in an expanded “successes report in recent months at the hands of the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces backed by air strikes carried out by the international coalition led by the United States faces a new challenge, especially with regard to the restoration of control over some of the most important Iraqi cities, which are still subject under the control of Daash” .
The newspaper added that “attempt to restore the city of Mosul, Tikrit and Fallujah, as well as a test not only militarily to Iraqi forces but also represents an important strategy for the country facing sectarian tension.”
The newspaper quoted a US official in Baghdad on condition of anonymity that “victory is important, but we can not achieve that air strikes.”
As another US official said, “We know very well the importance of freeing cities from the control Daash and symbolic victory, but we certainly do not want to fight the Iraqi forces as such battles without to have a sound organizational structure so as to achieve full success and victory.”
