4-28-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar [The CBI told us they need to print new 50, 250 and 1000…with the new technology…Asked how long the new printing of the 50.. 250 and 1000 should take…?] Approximately about one to one and a half months from the day the contract was let the new currency should be ready to pass out. So these new notes should begin replacing the existing notes and circulating no later than sometime in June IMO…That’s why I believe the first chance we will have to potentially see an RV is July1st, which also happens to coincide with the new accounting period. The CBI under both Shabibi and now Turki have stated their desire to not implement this project in the middle of an accounting period…I believe the way the timing on everything is lining up means that July 1st is the next most likely target.
4-27-2014 Newshound Guru Adam Montana [If Maliki doesn’t win the election, do you think the RV will be delayed because the new administration needs time to settle in office? Or if Maliki DOES win the election, do you think Maliki is holding up the RV because he is already making plenty of money off of the current status of Iraq?] …I believe Maliki will remain in his position, but regardless of my accuracy on that point – I’m sure whoever takes the spot will also see benefit to raising the value. Will it cause any delays? Of course – this is Iraq we are talking about.
4-28-2014 Intel/Newshound Guru American Contractor The Iraq government is prepared to make good on its debts to the Paris Club members. Yes, Iraq still owes debts and it will be settled as soon as the U.S. government has lifted the protection for the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI). The scheduled date is 22 May and it appears like everything is going according to plan. I would not be surprised if this is delayed another year. Considering this will happen when the Iraq government is still trying to come to grips with another four years of Prime Minister Nuri Maliki.
4-27-2014 Newshound Guru Adam Montana [What else do we need to get this done? Kurds? Election? Budget? Logic?] The election is definitely playing a role. Once that’s out of the way, I’m looking for major HCL news which will include the Kurds, and not a whole lot more. Things are close!
4-27-2014 Newshound Guru Aggiedad77 Article: “Citizens seem to lack optimism the next election” Iraqi voters are voicing their lack of interest, lack of optimism that anything of significance will change in this upcoming election…they believe it is basically predetermined and often driven by foreign affairs as to how their government will be shaped…they make it sound like Iraq is a puppet country being played by the world countries in control…probably not too far from the truth.
4-27-2014 Intel/Newshound Guru American Contractor Just last week, the Iraq Ministry of Commerce announced that the Iraq government is preparing to enter the third round of negotiations for joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). The meeting was held at the Ministry of Commerce building in the International Zone. The meeting was very productive. This was the pre-meeting before they meet with the WTO officials in the fall. There are still some obstacles that the Iraqi’s have to take care of first before the meeting with the WTO.
