Iraqi Air Force Command announced on Monday, May 6, that it took delivery of three US-made C-130J aircrafts confirming that it is used as a personnel and military equipment carrier. “The Iraqi Air Force in Al Muthana airbase took delivery of 3 American-made C-130J transport aircraft pursuant to the contract signed last year between Iraq and the Unites States of America; after Iraq received 3 other aircraft at a prior stage “, said the Air Force Command in a press release of which Alsumaria got a copy. “These planes transport different kinds of military equipment and personnel”, added the release, pointing out that “the crew operating the carriers will comprise Iraqi pilots who concluded training sessions abroad”. Last year, Iraq took delivery of another three C- 130J aircrafts as part of a trade with the United States. The Iraqi government is working on arming all divisions of the Iraqi Army, as it signed contracts with countries that produce state-of-the-art weapons including the United States. This aims to provide the army with armored vehicles, advanced tanks, helicopters and fighters including the F16 fighters. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Nuri Al Maliki’s office announced on May, 13th, 2012 that Iraq will receive the first round of F16 fighters in 2014.
