3-31-2012- Enorrste The Preparatory Committee…failed to get the Conference off the ground. I understand that it will now be held on the 4th or 5th of April…the primary goals of the conference are to resolve the issue of the two ministers who have been called to be arrested by Maliki, and a final resolution of the Erbil Agreement. The resolution of the Erbil Agreement is what is necessary for the final formation of a true shared government in Iraq…this agreement has never gained momentum…we did hear that Maliki finally accepted an Iraqiya nominee for the post of ministry of defense. This shows at least SOME movement toward the final formation of a government.
3-31-2012- Jonnywg we come to yet another weekend with hope…this one seems a bit different as we are sandwiched between conferences…lots of positive talk but no results as yet…we know that all the technical work is done but paperwork seems to be the new roadblock but it is eerily quiet and it is felt by many that all is completed…the status is this…we are again in a position to have the rv happen at any moment…we are also in the position that …”crap happens” and it could take another few days next week…what i do know is that all agencies are cooperating and working together to get this rv completed.
3-31-2012- SWFloridaGuru How can anyone say it’s been in the banks since June 2011? Shabibi first has to give the go-ahead to the CBI with the IMF and World Bank’s approval, send it to the BIS and from there either the adjusted rate, or basket of rates, will be released at a random time, by design to keep anyone from knowing the exact moment. That is how RV’s/RI’s/DV’s work. New rates don’t sit in the banks in the US, giving everyone a heads up for obvious reasons. This is coming from high level banking contacts, not me. Lets hope Shabibi has everything in place to get the ball rolling or already has.
3-31-2012- 8Ball Moon and Maliki had two meetings…Parliament restarts Sunday, April 1st…National Convention is Thursday. Allawi and the Kurds have asked that the Erbil agreement be implemented before the National Convention…Maliki will most likely have the National Convention where he said he will assign the security ministers, FINALLY…of course it can all be done…which should cause the trigger…then we would have the RV…Party hats for everyone….!!
3-31-2012- Enorrste There has been a great deal of progress recently toward an eventual RV. Maliki went to Kuwait and signed all of the documents necessary for the UN to release Iraq from the sanctions of Chapter VII. However, the UN Security Council will not meet until June, so it is questionable whether an actual release will be effected prior to that meeting. It is my understanding that an assistant to Ban Ki Moon has been working assiduously to get everything ready for a final release.
3-31-2012- Footforward The Majority of the pieces of the puzzle are done – Iraq has done everything they need to do for the RV. Chapter 7 is not our first concern…they were removed from Chapter 7 back in February, but I can’t prove it…I have a source that deals directly with Dr. Shabibi…he doesn’t hide his frustrations that we do not have an RV yet. It’s out of Iraqs hands…they are waiting on the IMF, BIS & Treasury. We are not waiting for this to happen way down the line. This can go live at any time, we are hour to hour.
