Iraq is seeking to raise the production of the southern fields to six million barrels per day in three years

Iraq has the fourth-largest oil reserves in the world, and entered into contracts with major oil companies to raise production levels, which currently amounts to about 2.9 million barrels per day to up to 12 million barrels per day by 2017.
