Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met this evening, Monday, in the Jordanian capital Amman, with a group of Iraqi businessmen and investors in various economic and commercial sectors to discuss investment opportunities in Iraq.
According to a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, Al-Zaydi reviewed a number of policies and procedures adopted by the Iraqi government in the field of enhancing the investment climate and attracting capital to contribute to national development.
He stressed that Iraq has made great strides towards creating opportunities to attract more Arab and foreign investments, by simplifying procedures, addressing investors’ problems and preserving their rights, based on the Investment Law.
He pointed out that Iraq has many investment opportunities, and the government has granted the private sector many privileges, including customs exemptions, to contribute to the implementation of development projects and provide job opportunities for young people.
Al-Zaydi explained that the beginning of next year will witness the laying of the foundation stone for the extension of the development road, which will include the establishment of industrial cities, as well as the opening of the Grand Faw Port at full capacity for commercial transport, so that Iraq becomes a point of contact between East and West and one of the most important trade corridors in the world.
