The Iraqi Economic Observatory (ECO -Iraq) announced on Saturday that Iraq extracted approximately 834.7 million barrels of crude oil during the first nine months of 2026.
In a statement reported by Al-Maalomah News Agency, the observatory said, “Iraqi oil production maintained its usual levels during January and February, averaging over 4.1 million barrels per day, before declining sharply starting in March, coinciding with the repercussions of the war in the region. Production reached its lowest point in May, then began to recover gradually in the following months.”
The statement further explained that “average daily production reached 4.097 million barrels in January and 4.140 million barrels in February, before falling to 1.906 million barrels in March and 1.633 million barrels in April. It then reached its lowest point during the period at 1.406 million barrels per day in May, before rising to 1.525 million barrels per day in June.”
He added that “the recovery trend continued during the third quarter of the year, with average production rising to 2.901 million barrels per day in July, 3.746 million in August, and reaching 4.399 million barrels per day in September, according to the direct reporting data included in the OPEC table on which the Observatory relied.”
He noted that “September’s production recorded the highest daily rate since the beginning of the year until before the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.”
