The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber Ismail, affirmed on Tuesday the importance of the storage capacity project in the Nasiriyah gas depot in strengthening the liquid gas storage system and supporting the stability and smooth supply of Dhi Qar Governorate, which contributes to meeting the needs of citizens and various activities.
This came during his attendance at the start of the trial operation of the storage capacity project in the Nasiriyah gas depot in Dhi Qar Governorate, and his inspection of the project facilities, completed works and technical preparations for operation.
The Undersecretary explained in a speech that the project represents an important addition to the infrastructure of the gas sector, as the total storage capacity of the warehouse is 5,000 cubic meters through two tanks, while the site is supplied with liquid gas from the South Gas Company through the feeder pipeline with a capacity ranging between 300 and 400 tons per day, to cover the governorate’s needs, which range between 250 and 350 tons per day.
He pointed out that the project contributes to supporting the activity of filling gas cylinders in government and private factories, whose production reaches about 25-30 thousand cylinders per day, equivalent to about 300 tons, as well as improving the level of services provided to citizens by meeting their needs for cooking gas and LPG car gas.
The Undersecretary stressed the importance of completing the requirements for connection, programming, and technical tests, leading to the full and safe operation of the project, emphasizing adherence to safety standards and approved technical specifications, and appreciating the efforts of the staff working on completing the project.
