US President Donald Trump described his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York on Saturday as “great”.
Trump added in a statement to reporters, as reported by Shafaq News Agency, that “Al-Zaidi is a wonderful man and a friend of mine, and we support him.”
Al-Zaidi had discussed bilateral relations with Trump in New York last Wednesday, and ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two countries in the political, economic and investment fields, according to a statement from Al-Zaidi’s media office.
They also reviewed the latest developments in the region and the joint efforts made by Iraq and the United States to enhance regional and international security and stability, according to the statement.
