Abdul Samad Al-Zarkoushi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed on Saturday that Iraq will not face any security repercussions after the withdrawal of US forces, noting that the security situation has been managed by Baghdad on the ground and in terms of intelligence for many years.
Al-Zarkoushi told Al-Maalouma that “the withdrawal of foreign forces, especially American forces, from the country is a national decision, indicating that Iraq will not witness any negative security repercussions after September 30, given that Baghdad has been managing the files of combating terrorism and organized crime on the ground and in terms of information for many years.”
He added that “all the security achievements that have been made are a result of the development of the combat capabilities of the Iraqi forces in the field,” stressing the ability of the security services to continue to perform their tasks efficiently and effectively.
He pointed out that Iraq made the decision to expel foreign forces out of patriotic motives and to affirm the principle of national sovereignty.
Al-Zarkoushi stressed that “the country does not need any foreign forces on its soil.”
