Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi returned to Baghdad on Saturday after concluding his official participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, during which he delivered Iraq’s speech and reviewed its positions on regional and international issues.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement received by Al-Maalomah Agency that “the visit included holding a wide range of bilateral meetings and official meetings with the leaders and heads of delegations of the participating countries, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and joint cooperation in various fields, in a way that serves national interests and regional stability.”
The statement added that “Al-Zaidi met during the General Assembly proceedings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Kenyan President William Samoe, and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.”
He noted that “the Prime Minister held separate meetings with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, Rwandan Prime Minister Justin Nsengyumpha, and Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy. He also held talks with the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih, UNDP Administrator Alexander de Crowe, and Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the IMF Jihad Azour, as well as representatives of major international companies operating in the energy, transportation, communications, and technology sectors.”
