The Ministry of Transport confirmed on Friday that advanced completion rates have been achieved in the Grand Faw Port projects, while indicating that the project will enter the experimental phase after the completion of the works and the availability of the appropriate environment, noting that more than 90 percent of the development road plans have been completed.
According to the official agency, the ministry’s media and government communications director, Hussein Ahmed, said that “the Grand Faw Port project is witnessing good progress in terms of work, as the completion rate of the submerged tunnel has reached 98 percent, while the completion rate of the exchange yard has reached 90 percent, and the five berths have also been completed.”
He added that “some equipment was disrupted due to the Strait of Hormuz crisis after the completion of the project-related works, including docks, exchange yards, and other facilities,” noting that “the project will enter the trial phase, but this phase requires a safe environment. Once the Strait of Hormuz crisis is resolved, the trial operation will begin, as it is impossible to proceed with this course of action under the current crisis.”
