Informed sources revealed on Sunday that exceptional security measures have been imposed around the Harir base near Erbil, coinciding with the departure of a new convoy of US forces as part of the withdrawal of their forces before September 30.
The sources explained to Al-Maalomah that “Al-Harir base witnessed, at the early hours of dawn, exceptional security measures, coinciding with helicopters flying overhead to secure the exit of a large convoy that included vehicles, trucks and iron containers, as part of the procedures to withdraw the remaining military units inside the base in preparation for ending their military presence before September 30.”
She added that “the convoy includes dozens of vehicles and trucks carrying various equipment, and it set off from the Harir base towards the axes leading to Nineveh and Kirkuk, where it was spotted on the main roads.”
Sources indicated that “the pace of convoy departures from Harir Air Base may accelerate in the coming days, as the deadline for the completion of the US troop withdrawal and the end of its military presence in Iraq approaches.”
