Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani renewed on Sunday his support for the process of restricting weapons to the state throughout Iraq, while calling on boycotting members of the regional parliament to end their boycott and carry out their legislative duties in preparation for the formation of the new government.
This came in a statement he made to journalists after participating in the ceremony to launch the new academic year 2026-2027 at one of the schools in the city of Erbil.
Masrour Barzani said: “The rule of law must prevail throughout Iraq, and every weapon that falls outside the authority of the state, the government, and legitimacy must be disarmed.”
In another part of his speech, the Prime Minister urged members of the Kurdistan Parliament to end their boycott of the sessions and to carry out their national and oversight duties, stressing that “activating the parliament represents the first and essential step to pave the way for the formation of the new government in the region.”
