An expert reveals developments in Iraqi oil production and exports.

Oil and gas expert Assem Jihad confirmed on Thursday the return of international companies to work in various Iraqi oil fields and projects, noting an increase in oil production and exports through various export outlets.
Jihad told Al-Maalouma, “Oil companies, both local and international, specializing in extraction, in addition to those operating under licensing rounds, are continuing work on various oil projects in Iraq according to the program prepared for this purpose.”
He added, “The issue of declining oil exports is pushing the Ministry of Oil to reduce production, because oil production requires open export outlets to ensure the oil reaches its destination, especially since some of the produced oil goes to refineries and the rest is exported.”
He explained that “the developments and tensions in the region led to a reduction in oil production in the past period. However, the last few weeks have witnessed an increase in both oil production and exports, at a time when everyone hopes for a return to previous export rates, which reached 3.5 million barrels per day through the southern outlet, along with increased oil flow through the northern outlet and increased export capacity to compensate for what Iraq lost in the past period due to the regional crisis.”
