First publicly announced activity: Mojtaba Khamenei meets with Pezeshkian

The official website of Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei announced on Sunday that he met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in the first official meeting announced by Khamenei since he was named Supreme Leader, succeeding his father Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an American airstrike on February 28, 2016.
The Guide website stated that the meeting coincided with the beginning of Pezeshkian’s third year as president, indicating that the two sides discussed in detail the country’s issues and problems, especially those related to meeting the people’s living needs, noting that they discussed a number of economic and military files, in addition to the latest developments in the war and providing the citizens’ living needs.
He added that the meeting also addressed the current situation of the third imposed war and the next phase, as well as developments in the military field, strategies for securing resources, managing expenses, foreign currencies, and the energy sector.
According to the official website, the two sides also discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between Iran and foreign parties, within the framework of discussing the country’s economic challenges and basic needs.
Iranian President Pezeshkian acknowledged last Wednesday the difficulty of communicating with the Supreme Leader at the present time, in the latest official statement reflecting the continued ambiguity surrounding his appearance and status since he took office following the killing of his father in the American and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Pezeshkian said in an interview broadcast on Iranian state television that communication with Mojtaba Khamenei has become “extremely difficult” at the present time, without providing further details as to the reasons for this.
Khamenei’s public presence since taking office has been limited to written statements published by official media and government accounts, without the publication of any recent photos, audio or video recordings of him, which sources close to him attributed to security and health considerations.
