Trump: Moscow and Beijing pledged not to sell weapons to Iran

US President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping told him during their recent meeting in Beijing that he would not provide weapons to Iran and would not sell them in any way, stressing that this pledge extends to Chinese companies.
Trump said in remarks monitored by Shafaq News Agency: “Given the nature of our relationship, I believe him on that,” adding that he is offering the Chinese president “very significant concessions” within the framework of the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
On the same note, Trump indicated that Russian President Vladimir Putin had told him that he would not sell weapons to Iran, despite the ongoing war in Ukraine, stressing that the relationship with Putin remains intact, as does the relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump explained that Washington does not sell weapons directly to Ukraine, but rather sells them to NATO countries at full price, denying any knowledge of how those weapons are subsequently distributed.
The US president concluded that the two main countries often cited in the context of arming Iran “are not involved in that,” in his estimation, warning that any involvement in this matter “would certainly not be in their interest.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on March 5 that Russia and China were providing support to Iran “politically and in other aspects,” but he declined to clarify whether this support included military or economic aspects.
