The Kuwaiti army announced on Sunday that its air defense systems were intercepting missile attacks and “hostile” drones, as sirens sounded in several areas of the country, coinciding with an Iranian attack.
The Kuwaiti army said in a statement that “our air defenses are currently responding to missile and hostile drone attacks following the heinous Iranian aggression.”
In this context, media outlets reported hearing explosions in the vicinity of Ali Al Salem Air Base in northern Kuwait, coinciding with interception operations carried out by air defenses.
These developments come amid escalating military confrontation between Iran and the United States, and the widening scope of attacks that have targeted a number of military sites and bases in the region in recent hours.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Sunday that it had completed a new round of military strikes against Iran, including sites in the center and south, marking the eighth consecutive night of operations. Iranian television also quoted the army as saying that it had targeted “American military assets” at two bases in Kuwait before the latest attack.
